The NeoDyne Electronic Batch Record system provides data storage, reports and analysis tools that can replicate existing paper based reports. It can highlight exceptions and deviations and provide traceability. It can overlay existing process and can integrates with existing automation such a LIMS, and existing SQL databases.
This system has been used in several specific pharmaceutical applications. In one case, it was used for supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). SCADA generally refers to industrial control systems or computer systems that monitor and control industrial, infrastructure, or facility-based processes. In another case, it was used as distributed control system (DCS) which is a control system in which the controller elements are distributed throughout the facility. The entire system of controllers is connected by networks for communication and monitoring.
The greatest value of this system is its connectivity to process automation and distributed control systems that are available from NeoDyne. It does not appear to be very useful as a standalone electronic batch record system.
